uninstall windows 10 update KB4524244

Windows 10 updates have been causing a lot of issues for some users with every new cumulative update bringing new bugs. Sometimes, however, there are also driver-related issues that seem to show up after a new update. If you are seeing "A driver can't load on this device" error on your Windows 10 device, Microsoft says it means the Memory integrity setting in Windows Security is preventing a driver from loading on your device.

Microsoft has updated a support document, warning that "if you choose to continue using your device without addressing the driver problem, you might discover that the functionality the driver supports does not work any longer, which could have consequences ranging from negligible to severe."

How to address this Windows 10 driver issue

The first thing you should do is to check if a newer or updated driver is available through Windows Update or through that driver's manufacturer.

If you can't find a compatible driver to address the problem, here is how you can turn off the Memory integrity setting in Windows Security to work around the "A Driver Can't Load on This Device" error message.

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security.
  2. Next, click on Windows Security Device Security. windows 10 A Driver Can't Load on This Device
  3. Under Core isolation, select Core isolation details.
  4. Turn the Memory integrity setting Off if it isn’t already. fix A Driver Can't Load on This Device bug
  5. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

If you are seeing this error message, follow the above steps to address the issue as Microsoft has hinted at "severe consequences." Incompatible drivers have proved to be the bane for Windows 10 but it appears the company is at least now acknowledging these issues and offering workarounds instead of leaving users scrambling for solutions.
